5 Great Outdoor RV Destinations in Southern California

Ready to take your RV out of storage at RV Storage Depot and to travel to some of the most beautiful natural spots in Southern California? There are many wonderful RV destinations in the lower half of the state.

Here are five destinations we recommend, all of which provide many outdoor activities and will give you a sense of California’s natural splendor.

Yucaipa Regional Park

In San Bernardino County, near Oak Grove and Redlands, you’ll find a beautiful campground called Yucaipa Regional Park. With 42 full hookup sites, a dump station, and plenty of hot showers and restrooms, you’ll continue to enjoy the comforts of home while enjoying the scenery.

The hilly surrounding area has hiking and biking trails surrounded by alluvial scrub, oak trees, and sycamore trees. If fishing is your thing, you can catch trout of catfish in one of the three lakes. Paddleboat rentals are also available.

At the campsite, you can play disc golf, eat at picnic tables, and use the open grills. This park gets busy, so book your space early.

Crystal Cove State Park

Here at this Laguna Beach campground, visitors can relax on the beach, check out the tidepools, and swim in the ocean. Up the overlooking cliff area, you’ll find lots of hiking trails for walking or jogging among the coastal sage scrub. This is also a fun place to go horseback riding.

Plus, Crystal Cove State Park is near the Crystal Cove Historic District, where you can check out beautiful local cottages built in the 1930s and 1940s.

For your RV, the campsite provides full hookups, 20,30, and 50 amp electricity, digital cable TV, wireless internet, and RV supplies. You can also take advantage of the pool and spa, bathrooms and showers, and laundry facilities.

Serrano Family Campground

This lovely campground is in Fawnskin, near Big Bear Lake. At the lake itself, you can enjoy lots of fishing and boating and get an amazing view of the surrounding, pine-covered hills. Take a hike, or go mountain biking, and see other flora, like the prickly pear cactus and flowers like Douglas’s violet and shooting stars. You can also take your kids to enjoy one of the playgrounds. When you get peckish, find your group a nearby picnic table with a barbeque grill. Other activities you can enjoy include disc golf, mini-golf, and rock climbing.

While we will always recommend booking ahead of time, Serrano Family Campground does have 131 RV sites. Enjoy full hookups with 30 or 50 amp electricity. There are dump stations to use when you need them, as well as laundry facilities, bathrooms, and showers. You can stock up on supplies at the camp store. The site is pet-friendly, too.

Newport Dunes

Newport Dunes is another campground right by the beach. You’ll find it in the coastal city of Newport Beach, where there are lots to do inside and outside the campground. This place is seriously upscale. There’s a waterpark with inflatable and watercraft rentals, biking and hiking trails, food, and wine tasting, and even live music and movies on the beach.

There are quite a few things to do nearby as well. Enjoy waterfront dining at Back Bay Bistro, or check out local shops, like St. Croix Shop, selling men’s clothing, or Daydream Surf Shop.

The RV site provides full hookups, 30 and 50 amp electricity, dump stations, and wifi. Of course, there are also bathrooms and showers, fire pits for rent, and firewood for sale. Yes, this place is pet-friendly, too!

Bolsa Chica

Huntington Beach is home to Bolsa Chica, an Orange County state beach with swimming, surfing, sunbathing, volleyball, and other beach activities. You can even enjoy surf fishing, where you can catch perch, spot fish, and others.

There are lots of activities at the campsite, too. These include a pool and spa, a playground, volleyball, pickleball, basketball, tennis, and more. There’s a cardroom as well as a general store.

For your RV, the campsite offers full hookups, drive-thru sites, and 30 and 50 amp electricity. There’s also the convenience of bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities.
