5 Best Winter Activities Near Norwalk, CA
There’s a lot to do in and around Norwalk all year but there are a few special activities that only come around during the holiday season.
Here are five fun activities you can do in the area this year as the holidays approach. We chose a nice variety, from skiing and skating to entertainment to make the season special.
Buckhorn Ski Resort
Skiing is a major winter activity and if it’s something you love to do, then visit Buckhorn Ski Resort in nearby Costa Mesa. If you stay in the lodge, keep in mind that there’s no cellular service and the electricity is generated there. You’ll be truly off the grid, which is sort of a relief in today’s ever-connected world. Whether you’re into downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, or snowboarding, you’ll find your favorite activities here.
The site features two lifts with a 680 ft vertical rise. Base elevation is 7,203 feet, and summer elevation is 7,903 feet. The resort has 40 skiable acres and gets 180 inches of snowfall per year.
East West Ice Palace
There’s nothing quite like gliding along the ice as though you’re flying, and you can enjoy ice skating this year at East West Ice Palace in nearby Artesia.
Don’t know how to ice skate? That’s all right. This business offers a skating school for beginners. Public skating is on Saturdays from 6:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. During the week, you can take beginner skating, figure skating, or ice hockey lessons.
Plaza Navideña
Plaza Navideña Holiday Fest is the annual tree lighting ceremony in Santa Ana. This year, 2021, it will take place on Nov. 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a free event meant to kick off the winter holidays. You’ll get to enjoy food and drink (those aren’t free), live performances, arts and crafts, and various treats.
Snow Days with the Critters
We’ll be honest. It doesn’t snow in Santa Ana, but that’s no reason you shouldn’t head over to the Santa Ana Zoo for Snow Days with the Critters. Bring your kids, and participate in craft activities, listen to holiday music, check out the adorable animals, and have some holiday treats.
While the event takes place throughout the season, it’s free for Santa Ana residents on Dec.16, 2021. Learn more about the animals and have a fun day with your family or friends.
A Magical Cirque Christmas
A Magical Cirque Christmas is coming to Costa Mesa on Dec. 26. This show travels across the nation and we look forward to its stop in Orange County and near Norwalk. Featuring acrobatic feats, magic, Christmas music, and more, this is a major event your family is sure to love.
